X-ray image intensification in ruminant physiology.

چکیده

T h e general introduction of the X-ray image intensifier (11) over the last decade has opened up new possibilities for X-ray examination. The brightness of the 11, which is several thousand times higher than the conventional fluorescent screen, allows the image to be viewed in normal room lighting. If a television chain is connected, the operator has control over contrast and brightness to further enhance visualization of detail and the image can be stored electronically on magnetic tape or disc, or on an image storage tube. This increased brightness and detail allows photographic exposures of the output screen to be obtained with a radiation dose to the subject 5-10 times lower than that required for conventional radiography using intensifying screens. This, together with approximately a further one-third reduction in the continuous viewing dosage, is an important safety consideration (Gudden, Hofmann & Marhoff, 1972).

DEALING ~TH TEC~CAL PROBLEMffi RELATING TO THE PRODUCTS, PROCESSES AND INVESTIGATIONS OF THE PHILIPS INDUSTRIES

For many years electronics has been engaged in the problems of amplifying very weak currents and voltages. In rece~t years, partly owing to the stimulus of teleuision, a new branch of,electronies, that"'is, the intensification. of light, has ·emerged. The original object of this development was the conversion of long-wave; into short-wave light ("wavelength-transformation") which was investigat...

Accuracy Assessment of Ultrasonic C-scan and X-ray Radiography Methods for Impact Damage Detection in Glass Fiber Reinforced Polyester Composites

The present study introduces two quantitative parameters to compare the accuracy of ultrasonic C-scan testing and X-ray radiography methods in the damaged area detection under low-velocity impact in polymer-based composites. For this purpose, the hand lay-up technique of composite processing was employed to prepare the composite specimen. A composite specimen consisting of the glass fiber reinf...

Empirical correlation for porosity deduction from X-ray computed tomography (CT)

For obtaining reservoir petrophysical properties, for example porosity, non-destructive methods such as X-ray computed tomography, CT, seems to be precise and accurate. Porosity is deducted from the CT image with a single scan via different techniques, such as pore space detection by image segmentation techniques then correlation with porosity. More than one hundred samples with carbonate li...

The Effect of Medicinal Plants as a Feed Additive in Ruminant Nutrition

Since the use of antibiotics in animal feeds has been banned, researches on alternative natural products that modulate ruminal fermentation have been intensified. Natural compounds such as plant extracts have been considered to be replaced antibiotics as safe and sustainable alternatives. Plant extracts especially essential oils and saponins have strong antimicrobial, antiparasitic, antiprotozo...
